Now, he will get an opportunity to work with the best in the Hoosier State in the Class of 2016.
Wolfe, a former assistant coach at Warsaw, has been selected as an assistant coach for the Indiana All-Star team this summer.
Wolfe, 42, has fashioned a 145-68 mark in his nine seasons in charge of the Panthers after coaching for both Doug Ogle and Al Rhodes at WCHS. His 2015-16 team, led by the outstanding trio of seniors Braxton Linville and Dakiyron Fox and junior Vinny Miranda, went 24-3 overall and 6-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference. The Panthers, who were ranked No. 1 in Class 3-A at the end of the regular season, won their third straight Class 3-A sectional championship and fourth in the last five years. NorthWood lost a 66-62 final to Marion in the title game of the Class 3-A Marion Regional. Marion went on to win the Class 3-A state championship.
The Panthers, under Wolfe’s guidance, are 68-9 over the past three seasons. Linville, the outstanding point guard who will play at Grace College next season, has led the way to the state’s second-best record over that time span.
The All-Star Camp will begin on June 5 at Marian College in Indianapolis. The All-Star team will then play exhibition games on June 7 and 9 versus the Junior All-Stars. The squad will then face Kentucky on June 11 in Indianapolis and on June 12 in Lexington. The Indiana All-Star team is expected to be chosen in the next couple of weeks. The Junior All-Star team has already been announced and the North Group includes Warsaw standout guard Kyle Mangas.
Stacy Meyer of Greensburg will serve as head coach of the Indiana All-Star team. Scott Hicks, a former player at Notre Dame and currently the coach at Indianapolis Broad Ripple, will join Wolfe as an assistant coach for the team.
